This interchange includes two unused piers, which I will call the orphan piers. Often such unused structures are called "ghost" piers,
but the term ghost really isn't correct, however, since these piers will ultimately be used for a direct-connect
ramp someday. A ghost pier (or more commonly a ghost ramp) is a structure that is built and then becomes abandoned when connecting highways that would
use it are canceled. Orphan piers is a more accurate term for these piers since they are just waiting for adoption into a ramp.
